Vicki - The Wellness Way

Twelve years old.

It was a time of sun-filled days spent lounging around the pool, of bike rides and drumsticks and dreams about the future.

A time of posters plastered on bedroom walls and horror movies and dance parties.

A time of firsts: first kisses, first periods, first cigarettes.

A time of growth spurts and sex talks and boys with blue eyes and yellow dirt bikes making hearts flutter and skinned knees go weak.

A time of girls.

Gangly girls who thought they knew it all. Who thought they had it all. (Didn’t we?) 412384_bowl_of_popcorn

When you affirm your own rightness in the universe, then you co-operate with others easily and automatically as part of your own nature. You, being yourself, helps others be themselves. Because you recognize your own uniqueness you will not need to dominate others, nor cringe before them.

Reclaiming Sad

I remember.

The slow and steady slide into dark, into murky.

I remember knees buckling, heart splitting, breath catching between a word and a thought.

I remember melting into a puddle of the person I once was.

I remember sadness. (And I know you do too.)

We have been sad. We have felt the foundation crack under the weight of insurmountable sorrow. Slumped forward, head in our hands, we have been broken and frightened and completely alone.

We avoid sad.

We swallow the lump, we crack a joke, we chug a beer, we smoke some pot, we watch TV, we go to sleep. We become accustomed to the tightness in our chest and the numbness in our stomach. We choose the numbness; there is safety there…(more)

On God

If God was capable of being insulted, the greatest insult you could give him/her is to wage war “in God’s name.”

~ John Cali / Chief Joseph

I love that quote from John Cali’s August 3, 2010 Chief Joseph newsletter.

Following is that article in it’s entirety.

God

A dear friend I met many years ago recently asked me about God. Might as well start with the small stuff! ;)

Here’s part of what he wrote:

“When somebody is close to God, they are unstoppable. I know God is there but (s/he) keeps well hidden from me. Maybe Joseph would dare to take on the question of how we best attempt to relate to God?”

John Cali

As you might imagine, this is a question we get often in private readings. People want to know who and what God is, what part God plays in our lives, how we can connect with God, and so on.

Good questions…(more)

Russia’s Agony a ‘Wake-Up Call’ to the World

Oneworld logoVIENNA, Aug 11 (IPS) – A wind turbine on an acre of northern Iowa farmland could generate 300,000 dollars worth of greenhouse-gas-free electricity a year. Instead, the U.S. government pays out billions of dollars to subsidise grain for ethanol fuel that has little if any impact on global warming, according to Lester Brown.

“The smartest thing the U.S. could do is phase out ethanol subsidies,” says Brown, the founder of the Washington-based Earth Policy Institute, in reference to rising food prices resulting from the unprecedented heat wave in western Russia that has decimated crops and killed at least 15,000 people.

Transforming Fear

As we move further and further into accepting our responsibility for creating this amazing and beautiful world that we share, we are being confronted with more and more of our fears. Often we’re discovering a recurrence of fears we thought we’d cleared. These fears are reappearing to show us that there is still more healing/clearing to be done.

Sometimes we don’t even recognize ours fears as fears, but rather see the outward manifestation of them as “the way things are”, implying that it can’t be changed. But no matter how things look, everything, but everything, can be changed. Fear based thoughts can be replaced with their opposite – love based thoughts – and must be if we are to fully create as we desire inside the new energy. The key is that before change can occur, we must come to an acceptance and appreciation for that which we have been railing against or hiding from.

But how?..(more)

Becoming Quantumly Self-Aware

No-one can deny that the energies are increasing in intensity faster than ever before. From one moment to the next things are shifting and changing, forcing us in many instances to adjust our perception, therefore, altering our truth. This is necessary in order for us to keep up with the massive changes currently underway. For years the Masters have spoken about this time of change, and now more than ever we have to grow with the flow, like it or not, ready or not!

With quantum physics revealing so much to us, it has become imperative for us to understand how big an influence the little things have on us. The impact is colossal. … The time is now for us to apply the laws of quantum physics in order to become, understand, and most importantly, perform as the master alchemists we are told we are – hidden beneath all the human conscious, subconscious, and unconscious grunge of course…(more)

Exhaustion clings to me like a second skin and I cannot peel it off. It sticks to every inch of my being, weighing me down, demanding attention, refusing to be shed.

I am too tired to write right now. I have been tired for days. Monday has morphed into another Monday and I am yawning still.

I am too tired to think, too tired to feel much of anything except the fierce longing to sink into my bed sheets and drift into untroubled slumber.

Anxiety has slipped into my shadow and is stalking me like prey. I am spinning on the wheel of sleepless nights and inner fights and feelings of defeat. I have nothing left to give. I am bone dry.

And the question that torments me is the all-consuming why…(more)Daisies

WASHINGTON, Aug 2 (New America Media) – High school senior Anna Nguyen already had her hands full applying to colleges. Then the BP spill occurred, and suddenly the Louisiana 17-year-old had another priority: helping her family to recover from her father’s sudden loss of income.

“It’s been hard for my dad to find a new job because most of his life he’s been self-employed as a fisherman, even before he came to the United States,” Anna explained Friday….(more)

Tell not your children that they are imperfect and must strive to be better.

Tell your children that they are free to follow their hearts desire, that the world is their playground, that there is no reason they need to choose suffering, and that the purpose of their lives is to love all aspects of its experience.
